Traditions Project- Main Studio Spring 2025
This project entailed redesigning an aspect of the dining hall experience at Traditions at Scott, the largest dining hall on the Ohio State campus.
The pain point my group focused on was the kick plates under the buffet stations. Typical kick plates are meant to prevent damage or dirtying of the part of the buffet station near customers' shoes, and are a part of the buffet that cannot be removed. In the case of Traditions, the kick plates must be removeable should the pipes under the buffet stations need to be accessed. However, this leads to the space underneath gathering dust and dirt, and another problem is that the plates often fall off. They live on the ground in front of their stations or have been removed due to the hassle of using them.
An example of the pipes under the buffet stations that are hidden by the kick plates.
