This project entailed designing a bike rack to refresh a chosen space around the Ohio State University campus. My chosen space was the courtyard behind Hayes Hall, the design building.
It's hard to ignore the giant grid formed by the windows of the building behind the courtyard. In contrast, a circular bench is placed around a tree stump. What little seating there is isn't very comfortable to sit on. I wanted to tackle the unused space in the rocky section, provide a casual, comfortable, and social space for the the courtyard, and find a middle ground between the perfect circle of the bench and the rigid grid of the backdrop.
